RAF WARMA March and The Nijmegen March
FS Matthew Roberts and Sgt Luke Thomas have trained to take part in the RAF WARMA March held at RAF Cosford in April 2005 and The Nijmegen March in
Since
October 2004 they have been to RAF St Athans on the first Sunday of
each month to train (walking between 18 to 25 miles each time) to be
able to be selected to attend both marches (not for the feeble minded
or unfit).
The RAF WARMA March is 50 miles to be covered over two days (25 miles per day)
FS Matthew Roberts and Sgt Luke Thomas were part of the No1 Welsh Wing team comprising 32 including accompanying staff.
Staying
at RAF Cosford they had to get up at around 0400, get ready and have
breakfast and start at 0700 and finish around 1600 with three stops
during the day for a comfort break and lunch.
On the second day the teams marched into RAF Cosford and on to the
apparently what they called "signing"!! still marching in step and
marched past the Commandant Air Commodore Chitty, who took the salute

participation 1100 - Commandant of the ATC, Air Commodore Chitty and,
around 700 Air Cadets and the rest were contingents from the RAF. Royal
Navy, British Army. Danish Army, and other cadet forces and Civilians.

take part in the RAF WARMA March since it started, well done chaps.
The Nijmagen March is 100 miles to be covered over four days (25 miles per day)
FS Matthew Roberts and Sgt Luke Thomas will be the first from this squadron to do the Nijmagen March for 30 yrs.
Training continues ready for July
The team travels to
Participants
in the march will be around 10 000!!! and be British Military and Cadet
Forces and Foreign national service personnel and civilians.
"Me thinks" there will be serious blisters chaps - look after the feet
Medals are presented for each march and maybe worn on the uniform as directed.
When medals are not worn then a medal ribbon is worn on the Brassard.
