Route Marching

Since

October 2004 they have been to RAF St Athans on the first Sunday of

each month to train (walking between 18 to 25 miles each time) to be

able to be selected to attend both marches (not for the feeble minded

or unfit).

The RAF WARMA March is 50 miles to be covered over two days (25 miles per day)

FS Matthew Roberts and Sgt Luke Thomas were part of the No1 Welsh Wing team comprising 32 including accompanying staff.

Staying

at RAF Cosford they had to get up at around 0400, get ready and have

breakfast and start at 0700 and finish around 1600 with three stops

during the day for a comfort break and lunch.

On the second day the teams marched into RAF Cosford and on to the Parade Square,

apparently what they called "signing"!! still marching in step and

marched past the Commandant Air Commodore Chitty, who took the salute

Total

participation 1100 - Commandant of the ATC, Air Commodore Chitty and,

around 700 Air Cadets and the rest were contingents from the RAF. Royal

Navy, British Army. Danish Army, and other cadet forces and Civilians.

FS

Matthew Roberts and Sgt Luke Thomas are the first from this squadron to

take part in the RAF WARMA March since it started, well done chaps.

The Nijmagen March is 100 miles to be covered over four days (25 miles per day)

FS Matthew Roberts and Sgt Luke Thomas will be the first from this squadron to do the Nijmagen March for 30 yrs.

Training continues ready for July

The team travels to Holland to participate - they will stay in the Military compound and will be sent out daily on different routes.

Participants

in the march will be around 10 000!!! and be British Military and Cadet

Forces and Foreign national service personnel and civilians.

"Me thinks" there will be serious blisters chaps - look after the feet

Medals are presented for each march and maybe worn on the uniform as directed.

When medals are not worn then a medal ribbon is worn on the Brassard.

Well done and good luck
